Vogue Fashions Night Out held on November 5th is an annual international shopping event held simultaneously in 17 countries or more. FNO is a global initiative aimed at “revitalizing the economy”. En lieu of this fashionable night out all the major fashion labels in the Omotesando and Harajuku shopping district provide champagne and apperitifs as customers flock to shop and possibly catch their favorite celebrities out shopping as well. This is my second time to attend FNO, but my first as a presenter. I would be interviewing for Fox Backstage Pass, a popular weekly entertainment TV show.
I first met the Locsley band while Aya Yasuda was interviewing them.
I then interviewed Catherine at the Tommy Hilfiger pop up store at 426 Bakery in Omotesando about their new line of Blue Blazers and found how to get my own “preppy with a twist” jacket. Catherine is wearing her blue blazer inside out.
The Tommy Hilfiger pop up store was especially busy and I enjoyed talking with people and getting their thoughts and opinions about the special activity going on. Chief editor of U.S. Vogue Anna Wintour rushed by twice with her daughter Bee Schaffer caused a more than a riot of photographs. All I managed to say was “Anna, thank you for coming” and a snap a quick photograph of her infamous blonde bob.
The crew then headed over to Niwaka jewelry store by Omotesano crossing. This Kyoto based brand featured a traditional rickshaw outdoors providing shoppers with a special photo op. Of course we filmed some fun shots for the camera, Smile:)
Niwaka is a jewelry brand from Kyoto, so their main focus for FNO was to promote Japanese culture.
Indoors there were three Maiko, or Geisha apprentices, who performed, sang, and danced. The Maiko wear full face-to-neck make up and obi’s that need to be tied by two men. Ouch! I did not think getting my head teased, sprayed, and pulled at was nearly as hard as their traditional hairstyle made up without wigs.

After Niwaka my interviews were done and I headed off to Fendi to start my FNO shopping spree!
